PurposeThe Tyrone Area High School Class of 1984's "Soar With '84 Memorial Scholarship" was created to memorialize our deceased alumni from the TAHS Class of 1984. Each year, the Class of '84 will remember one of our departed classmates by awarding a cash gift to one Tyrone Area High School graduate. The recipient does not have to be attending college to be considered for this award. This is a contribution for the person to use to help them achieve their goals and kick start their life after high school. Through fundraising and donations, the TAHS Class of 1984 Scholarship Committee will present a monetary gift of {up to $500.00} to one Tyrone High School graduating senior who can best represent this memorial award with pride and distinction. The recipient must possess the outstanding qualities and character that remind us of our classmate. Click here if you'd like information on how to make a donation.

The 2020 Soar With '84 Memorial Scholarship pays homage to Amy Emenhiser who passed away on February 8, 2011. High-spirited and always eager, the enterprising Amy Emenhiser was a cheerleader, class leader and civic leader. In high school, Amy was our class's Future Business Leaders of America vice-president, top-of-the-pyramid Varsity cheerleader, detail-oriented Eagle yearbook staff typist, and music-loving chorus member. She went on to graduate from business college and began her career as a certified travel consultant and group tours coordinator. Amy served on the Tyrone Women's Club, volunteered at her polling location on election days and valued her relationship to her church. Amy enjoyed cruising to exotic foreign islands with her friends and chaperoning chartered bus excursions with her Mom to New York City to see their favorite Broadway musicals. Amy had a fond affection for animals and had a houseful of rescued pets. Her warm and inviting home was a reflection of her personality: shelves of books, crocheted afghans, photos of beloved friends and family members adorned her walls, and scented candles burned while a Barry Manilow cassette played on her boombox. Often she could be found in her kitchen ready to offer up a tasty home-cooked meal or cold beer to any visitor. As the years after our graduation passed, Amy was the glue that continued to keep our class stuck together by organizing fundraisers and planning class reunions. With wonderful themes, good food and 80's music, our class functions always had the flare and panache that only Amy could achieve. Sadly, Amy left us much too soon. We cherish her memory and remember her with great fondness. It was with great pleasure that the Class of '84 presents the 5th annual Soar With ’84 Memorial Scholarship to Lindsey Walk. We wish Lindsey much success in all her future endeavors.

The 2019 Soar With '84 Award honored the memory of Eric S. Dannaway who passed away on February 9, 2009. Eric was a trustworthy classmate and loyal friend--quiet and humble, polite and respectful, helpful and caring--his cheerful presence made school days more pleasant and peaceful. A volunteer, tutor and mentor, Eric was also a civic-minded student. His leadership qualities contributed to many of the successful service-oriented projects and clubs that he participated. We remember Eric was an exceptionally creative person who had a fine appreciation for the performing arts. As a member of our high school drama club, he acted in many staged plays and productions. His skill for writing and publishing made him an indispensable member of the yearbook staff. Sadly, Eric was taken from us much too soon. We cherish his memory and remember him with great fondness. It was with great pleasure that the Class of '84 presented the 4th annual Soar With ’84 Award to Logan McKernan. We wish Logan much success in all his future endeavors.

It is with great pleasure that we presented this year's award to Randi Riggleman as she begins her journey at Clarion University to pursue a major in Communications. The 2017 Soar With '84 Award honored the memory of Michele Lou Ann Miller who passed away on January 24, 1993. Michele was a determined and headstrong woman; an energetic fireball with a kind heart, compassionate character and fun-loving personality. Her main interest and focus in high school was a vocational tech curriculum with a special interest and skill in auto mechanics. Michele loved fast cars. She wasn't afraid to pop the hood of a 70's Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, take apart the engine and get covered head to toe in grease. Her zest for life was inspirational and contagious. After high school, Michele attended Penn State Altoona. She later worked in retail before becoming a counselor.
